Rare Bird of Fashion

I wish i could reverse 5 years back, be in new york, and see this magnificent woman and her mind blowing personal collections at the METS. her style is just something else! every single thing is just big, bold and beautiful. plus, iris barrel apfel still remains to be fabulous in her 80s as she was in those days.

shes' an interior designer who ventured into textiles in the 1950s and built an empire out of it with her sweet husband. Her fashion phenomenon just cruises nicely with it as her passion took over. Dont you just love how closely design industries relate to each other? :)

i love reading articles and interviews on her, like here and here. she just put things in perspective and just inspires me on all kinds of ways. like here :

“I don’t care what people think…I learned a long time ago…I was 19 and had a very traumatic experience….and I learned that I have to go to bed with myself at night and that I have to please myself…and as long as I don’t go out of my way to offend anybody that I love, upset my mother or my husband…I’ll do my own thing. And if the public doesn’t like it, it’s their problem, not mine.”

thats right, not mine! hehe.
have a good weekend everybody!
