So I talked about where we stayed over here, but now let's get down to business. Some of the highlights on the things we loved and did in Thai city.
On the day that we arrived, we went straight to work in Chatuchak Weekend Market where you can get seriously seriously lost. Yes everything was cheap, but what I'm most surprised with is the varieties of menswear they have. Guys should definitely go there to shop, because let's face it, retail fashion in Malaysia is very one sided. So boys, Bangkok, now.
From one market, to the other. Rod Fai Market was a night market like no other. Not the easiest one to find though because it's tucked away behind a warehouse, but we got lucky as the locals showed us the way. It's like a world on it's own, that market. Music, vintage goods, clothes, food, fireworks, VW vans, etc. It's like hipster central. Not the aspiring kind, but the real deal. Definitely a must!
Jim Thompson's house was another one we went to. That house was so amazingly taken care of. Very traditional exterior, yet fresh interiors. I know he's a Thai silk merchant, but that man had really good taste in decor. I have a feeling if ayah sees this house, he would build it the exact same way to retire in!
I'm not sure, but I think, I think, Macy Gray sang this
song, after seeing this place. Patterns mixing together and
overlapping each other in such a big scale. Wanted to swim in them.
+We had this (sticky rice + slices of jackfruit + ice-cream) in a coconut shell in Chatuchak Weekend Market . We each bought one because sharing of ice-creams under the hot weather isn't something we wanted to do.
+ Our favourite snack of all time was this coconut/pancake snack thingy(this was THE thing we wouldn't remember the name of!). On our last day, we bought 60 pieces just for us 3. Finished them all like champs.
+Little that I know by going to Bangkok would make me become a grasshopper eater. Juliani said it best "they taste like fried shrimps, without the flesh.". Really crispy and tasty! I do feel bad eating those poor guys though, being fried alive and all that :( So I don't think it would happen again. It was good while it lasted.
Since experiencing it in India, and now in Bangkok, we took advantage of going eeeeverywhere by tuktuk! Something about being cramped at the back and being exposed to the outside world, makes it so much fun. Comes with it a crazy driver that sneaks through the traffic? HO JYEAH! I wish we have tuktuks in KL, I would honest to god forgo my car and just ride this everywhere. Okay maybe just at night when it's cool and breezy.
P/S: I am mighty jealous of Kate Moss's husband because of this.

LOVE!
